“I planted so many seeds, it’s allowed me the ability to rest when it comes to marketing myself. I'm word of mouth now. People come to me. I don't have to play the game — I own the game."

Brittany G. Web Designer

The freelancer sweetspot is real.

And you've found it — or you're close enough to taste it.

Helping really cool clients do really cool things. And getting paid well for it.

You're the email strategist behind the six-figure cart open. The launch manager keeping 47 moving parts from becoming a dumpster fire. The funnel builder who makes the revenue machine actually work. The copywriter who wrote the thing everyone's quoting.

You work behind the scenes and you're good with that. You're not trying to be the next Alex Hormozi, churning out 85 pieces of content a day.

You just want more of the right people to know you exist.

Here's the problem with every other community in this spaces.

They're built for your clients — creators, coaches, entrepreneurs trying to build an audience and scale.

So you show up and it's a room full of people pitching services at each other. Or rehashing beginner tactics you figured out three years ago. Or being talked AT by someone on a pedestal who has never actually done your job.

And you’re over it. Which is great because… Being in those rooms is like trying to put on a wool sweater that you accidentally washed in the washing machine and it shrunk 2 sizes. It’s uncomfortable and doesn’t fit.

That’s why I created this Workgroup.

The Workgroup is the community built for self-employed marketing specialists just like you.

Real specialists.
Real client results.

This is who you'd be sitting next to...

Here's what happens when you're in the right room.

First of all, kudos.

You've built everything you have by being the most resourceful person you know.

Imagine what happens when you're finally surrounded by people who are equally talented and they're all rooting for you…

Your name starts circulating in conversations you're not even in.

You get the unfiltered version of what's actually working right now (not the polished case study version, not the guru-approved talking points)straight from people who are in the same trenches doing the same work.

You make faster decisions because you have trusted peers who actually understand the nuance of what you're dealing with.

You refer with confidence because you know exactly who in the room is excellent at what they do — and they know the same about you.

Your positioning gets sharper because you're finally getting feedback from people who understand the work at your level.

And opportunities start arriving through relationships instead of algorithms.

Smart gets you far. Smart and connected gets you everywhere.

“There is a mark of quality. Whenever somebody says, 'I want somebody good,' the first place I see referred is Emily's Workgroup. You're immediately setting yourself a few steps ahead of the average person. Every client that I’ve gotten has somehow come from either Emily, the Workgroup or the people that I’ve connected within the Workgroup.”

Angela K, Funnel Builder

what specialists-level community actually looks like

Not a course or beginner training or some guru’s stage… Inside the Workgroup you get three things consistently:

The real conversation about what's working.

Roundtables and peer-led sessions where people who are actually in the work share what's landing right now — unfiltered, unsponsored, and unpolished.

A room where your expertise has a seat at the table.

Mixers and deep-dive sessions designed for you to contribute, not just consume. Your experience is valuable here. People want to hear it.

Access to people who know their craft.

Occasional expert guests and industry voices who are genuinely worth your time — brought in when there's something worth saying, not just to fill a calendar.

Real answers for real situations.

The client red flag. The pricing conversation. The tech crisis before a launch. These are the moments the room pays for itself as your sounding board.

A referral network built on actual trust.

You refer members because you know their work is good. They refer you for the same reason. No awkward recommendations, no crossed fingers — just confident name-dropping in both directions.

This is where specialists go to stay sharp, stay relevant, and stay connected to the people who matter.

"Once a month to get to see everyone's faces and have someone to bounce things off of — it's amazing to have colleagues. And we can refer each other."

This isn’t for everyone

And we like it that way.

We're not trying to be the biggest community. We're trying to be the best one for marketers who actually do this work. (OR We're building the room that every behind-the-scenes marketer deserves and almost no one has ever built for them.)

This room is not for...

  • People still figuring out their basic services and pricing

  • Anyone treating a community like a prospecting pool Lurk, take, pitch and disappear energy

  • People chasing quick wins instead of building real expertise

  • Anyone who needs beginner training or constant hand-holding or just whining about how hard it is

This room is for...

Email marketers, launch managers, copywriters, funnel specialists, social strategists, community managers, and designers who:

  • Are already working with clients and take that work seriously

  • Understand that the right room accelerates everything

  • Show up to contribute, not just consume

  • Genuinely like being around smart people who push their thinking

  • Know that reputation and relationships are the long game… and they're playing it

If that sounds like gatekeeping, good.

The room you're in determines who you're becoming. We take that seriously.

I’m Emily, and I just really like getting smart people together.

Look, I've been doing freelance marketing work since 2007. Total marketing nerd. I still take on client work. I've built the launches, managed the chaos, talked clients off the ledge… and written the emails at midnight.

But here's what people actually ask me about: "Who do you know?"’

That's my favorite question.

Maybe it's because I grew up as a military kid, then became a military spouse, constantly moving and rebuilding my network from scratch. I got really good at finding the right people and bringing them together. I saw how much further I could go with the right people in my corner.

I've spoken on top stages like Amy Porterfield's about who to hire in the marketing department at what stage of business. I host a top-ranked marketing podcast. And what I've learned over 15+ years is that your network isn't just nice to have, it's the thing that makes everything in business easier.

The right people in your corner mean you stop wasting hours on research, you make better decisions faster, and opportunities show up without you hunting for them.

And I just have this dream of getting smart people in a room together to talk shop and let them make each other better.

That's it. That's what this Workgroup is.

All in the sake of getting better at our own service-based businesses.

Bouncing ideas around.
Getting honest answers.
Referring people we actually trust.

Being around specialists who make us sharper just by being in the conversation.

So my job here is simple: curate the room of smart marketers and protect it.

I vet the applications. I bring in great people. I make sure the quality stays high because once you let standards slip, the whole thing falls apart.

The room you're in determines who you become. Let's make sure you're in a good one.

"I have a community I can lean on. If I get stuck, I don't have to get scared. And every lead is like four to six clients for me, because I know I can get referrals out of them."

what happens when you show up

When marketing specialists actually participate, things flow naturally.

Your Name Circulating in the Right Rooms

When you show up, contribute, and do good work, people remember. Your name gets mentioned in conversations you're not in. Opportunities find you. That's the compounding effect of being in a room with people who actually champion each other.

A Referral Network You Can Actually Trust

When a client needs something outside your scope, you have people you'd confidently refer without worrying they'll make you look bad. That's not a perk — that's just what happens when you're surrounded by professionals who take their work as seriously as you do.

Job Leads & Opportunities

Members share client opportunities, contract work, and collaboration possibilities. What comes through the door depends entirely on what the group brings in collectively — there are no guarantees, just the natural result of being in a room where people are actively working and referring.

Peer Reviews & Feedback

When you've been staring at your own positioning for six months, you stop seeing it clearly. Members get real eyes on their packages, their pitching, and how they're showing up — from people who understand what exceptional looks like and will actually tell you the truth.

Listing in the Trusted Marketer Directory

Your profile gets added to HireAUnicorn.com, a vetted resource online business owners use when they're looking for their next marketing hire. Passive visibility that works while you're doing client work.

These aren't manufactured bonuses I slapped on to pad the offer. This is just the reality of being in a real community where marketers contribute, collaborate, and actually give a shit.

FAQs

“The Workgroup always seems to have an ear on what's trending or what we need to be ahead of the curve. I love that. It means I don't always have to be out looking for trainings on things like chatGPT, when we have it in the Workgroup.”

Tanya R

“I've saved so much time and kept my hair because of the information that is shared. I spend less time in the research rabbit-hole. Opinions and ideas shared keep me more focused and efficient.”

This is the room where marketing specialists go to be known, referred, and surrounded by people who actually get the work.

get in the room

Applications are reviewed monthly. We accept a limited number of new members per round.

Here's what happens if you don't…

You figure it out on your own. You always have. And honestly — it's worked.

But you're smart enough to know that to get where you actually want to be, it's going to take something more than what you've already been doing.

The right clients find people through trusted recommendations. Not job boards. Not cold pitches. Someone they respect said a name — and that name needs to be yours.

The room you're in determines how far your name travels.

Marketing nerds welcome. The serious ones.
